WORLD SOLAR FUND LAUNCHES “MOTHERS FOR MOTHERS” CAMPAIGN TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO ELECTRICITY IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES

World Solar Fund (WSF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the living conditions of vulnerable groups, is proud to announce the launch of its latest campaign, “Mothers for Mothers. 2024” The initiative aims to address the critical issue of inadequate access to electricity during labor and delivery in underserved communities in Nigeria and Cameroon.
On Mother’s Day, we celebrate the remarkable women who have shaped our lives and show appreciation for their love, care, and sacrifices. However, there are countless mothers in Nigeria and Cameroon who are deprived of even the most basic necessities, such as electricity, which greatly impacts their lives and the lives of their children.
The inspiration behind our campaign comes from a personal tragedy that our founder experienced. The loss of her sister during childbirth in a remote village in Nigeria highlighted the urgent need for better access to electricity during labor and delivery in underserved communities.
To address this pressing issue, the World Solar Fund has partnered with local organizations in Nigeria and Cameroon. Through the “Mothers for Mothers” campaign, we encourage mothers in the United States to donate their Mother’s Day gifts – specifically solar lamps and mobile chargers – to mothers in these African countries.
By providing solar lamps and mobile chargers, our goal is to ensure that mothers in underserved areas have access to reliable and safe sources of light during childbirth. These devices will not only enhance the safety of labor and delivery but also enable mothers to stay connected with their families and the outside world during emergencies.
